Come learn about the California Asylum Representation Clinic (CARC) and how you can gain real experience working on an asylum case in your first year of law school. CARC, a student-run clinic, works in collaboration with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant to enable Berkeley Law students to serve as legal advocates for asylum seekers.
In 2007-08, 117 Boalt students represented clients from Guatemala, Mexico, Cameroon, Liberia, El Salvador, Peru, China, Myanmar, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cote D’Ivoire, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mali, Mongolia, Nigeria, Tibet, and Eritrea.
Join us at 12:45p on Monday, August 25 in Room 105 to learn more. We also welcome 2L and 3L participants, in addition to first years. Thai food provided!
All students who wish to participate in CARC should also attend the commitment session at 12:45pm on Thursday, August 28 in Room 100. Commitment forms must be turned into CARC coordinators at this time. Lunch will be served.
